Fundraising and Festivals!

Hjaltibonhoga are hard at work preparing for a busy spell to come. We've been invited to take part in the Shetland and Orkney Folk Festivals - both an honour for the group. We've got a whole new set list and the Shetland Festival will be the first performance for the newly formed Hjalti Training Band who are practising a few sets of their own.

At the same time, the all important fundraising effort is well under way for our summer trip to Edinburgh. A recent Soup and Sweet with live music by the band made a healthy contribution to group funds. More events will take place in the run up to August including our annual Sunday Funday in June. Look out for updates on Facebook or here on our Fundraising page.

Margaret is in Edinburgh at a production meeting this week and we're all looking forward to hearing how the 2016 show 'Tunes of Glory' is shaping up. Some of the group have already experienced parts of the show during the Melbourne and Wellington Tattoos in February - check out our highlights here! We're sure there will be some exciting changes to bring the spectacle back to the castle esplanade. It won't be long until our rehearsal time is dedicated to the challenging fiddle parts we've come to expect!
