Happy New Year!

For the second year running, Hjaltibonhoga were invited to play at the Atholl Palace Hotel Hogmanay Ball in Pitlochry. We arrived off the plane on the Friday evening for our first night of fantastic food and entertainment in the form of dancing practice for the hotel guests. Michael Philip and Margaret Robertson provided the tunes and the group took part by demonstrating some dances and joining in with others.

Saturday night was time for the Hogmanay Ball. It started with a champagne reception by the Christmas tree then moved down to the ballroom for the dinner and dance hosted by Michael Philip and his band. During the night Hjaltibonhoga played two sets wearing the 2016 Tattoo uniforms - a quick change required from black tie!

On Sunday, New Years Day, the group performed by the Christmas tree during afternoon tea for the hotel guests. Playing for over an hour sets included tracks from the soon to be released debut CD and popular Shetland session sets.

Looking forward to 2017, Hjaltibonhoga starts rehearsals in February to prepare for a busy year to come - fundraising, a CD launch, concert appearances and The Royal Edinburgh Military Tattoo 2017 'Splash of Tartan'.
